PEPPA PIG: GOLDEN BOOTS

How do you create a unique, premium app for the biggest pre-school brand on the planet?
KEY STATS

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Peppa Pig, eOne briefed us to create a Premium app inspired by the 15 minute episode The Golden Boots. The strategic intent was extend the life of the episode and so create a tentpole of celebratory activity for the year.

STRATEGY

The app would need to be designed for global roll-out to support Peppa’s continued successes in the pre-school market. The price would be at the upper end so, in the unforgiving kids app marketplace, the experience really had to over deliver.

APP

The app is based on the anniversary episode The Golden Boots and the aim is to help Peppa find her missing boots in time for the big Puddle Jump competition. Using familiar locations from the episode we created a suite of exploratory games, each using a different play mechanic specific to the capabilities of the device, and all differentiated by outcome.

Fun, positive reinforcement as part of gameplay was fundamental to providing children with a sense of achievement. We also built in a reward system without the need to win or complete a task to encourage repeat play.

After launch in 2014 the app saw nearly 1 million sessions every month and users were spending almost seven minutes per session on the app.
